Grocery Delivery Service
delivering 10 bags of groceries plus 15 rolls of paper towels and 70 packages of toilet paper
We provide a grocery delivery service for the residents of Ames, Iowa. Our customers call us with their order, usually the day before (prefered) or morning of the day of delivery. We take down their list. We go to the store of their choice, pick out the items they requested off the shelf, and purchase them. We then deliver them to their home or business.
Our standard charge is $8 plus 8% of the bill. If we make extra stops, we charge an additional $2 or $3 per stop.
Many of our customers are elderly or have a physical challenge that makes purchasing a large amount of groceries difficult. We also make deliveries to some local offices who keep their pantries stocked for employees' breaks.
While we have been delivering groceries for over a decade (it is the original service that started our business), it is not a major source of revenue for us. We only make a few deliveries a month. Grocery delivery is a time-consuming process, and the people who need it most--elderly shut-ins--usually can't afford to pay much money for the service. We continue to provide the service, however, because we enjoy serving our customers and feel it serves an important community need.
